Sabre/Giuliani Company, Bio·ONE™ Announces Schedule For AMI Anthrax Remediation
June 27 - Noon: Full System Operations Study
July 9 - 7:00 PM: Community Meeting
July 11 - Noon: Remediation Process Commences
Boca Raton, Fla. — June 21, 2004 — Bio·ONE™ has announced the schedule for decontamination of the former American Media, Inc. (AMI) building located at 5401 Broken Sound Boulevard in Boca Raton, Florida. The AMI building, the first building where anthrax was discovered in October of 2001, has remained under quarantine since.
FULL SYSTEM OPERATIONS STUDY
This study will include the introduction of low levels of the anthrax-eliminating chlorine dioxide (ClO2) fumigant into the AMI building. A study of operational parameters and the ClO2 distribution in the building will be conducted.
COMMUNITY MEETING
A Community Meeting to address questions regarding the decontamination plan will be held on Friday, July 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Sugar Sand Park Community Center in the Maple Room. This meeting is open to the public.
REMEDIATION
This process, which will take approximately 24 hours, is the same process safely used to clean up the Capitol Hill complex, including the Hart Senate Office Building, and postal facilities in Washington, D.C. and New Jersey.

About the Technology
Sabre's proprietary and patented implementation of gas-phase chlorine dioxide fumigation technology provides safe and effective decontamination with minimal disruption, negligible corrosion, and no residual toxicity. Sabre's high-capacity mobile generators can produce chlorine dioxide gas, solution or foam. Gas-phase chlorine dioxide fumigation is Sabre's primary decontamination method for biological contamination and has proven effective in the remediation of anthrax.
Chlorine dioxide is a gas at room temperature and as such is very mobile, easily reaching spores in hard-to-reach places and throughout the building. Also, because of chlorine dioxide's unique physical and chemical properties, it retains its structure and properties in all phases, maintaining its ability to kill spores. ClO2 has been proven to be an effective HVAC fumigant. Gas-phase chlorine dioxide used in remedial fumigation is a microbiocide and at proper use concentrations is not flammable or explosive. Chlorine dioxide decays in the fumigation zone to simple salt at concentration levels that are indistinguishable from background levels. As such, there is no residual toxicity or downstream toxicity issues.
