Mobile Bio-Safety Level 3 Laboratory

The Sabre BIOLAB™ is a self-contained Bio-Safety Level 3 mobile laboratory fully equipped for sample collection, preparation, and analysis in support of biological agent (e.g., bacteria, spores, toxins) detection and confirmation. The laboratory also supports analyses designed for verification of biological agent inactivation and destruction.

Contained in the BIOLAB™ are instrumentation, equipment, and reagents necessary for sample collection and preparation, sample preservation for subsequent forensic investigations, and biological agent detection for various sample matrices under diverse environmental conditions. Instrumentation utilized for biological agent identification and verification present in the BIOLAB™ includes genetic-based detection utilizing nucleic acid analyzers and Polymerase Chain Reaction devices (evaluates DNA sequencing and compares to sequences contained in a library of oligonucleotides used to identify the pathogen), Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assays (recognition of antigens in a sample to which that antibody would be produced if human infection occurred), Immunochromatograph (detection of serum proteins by lateral flow technique), and microscope.

Ancillary equipment required for storage, preparation, and analytical methodologies consisting of laminar air flow hoods, bio-safety cabinets, incubators, culturing equipment, extraction glassware, water de-ionization and purification systems, autoclave, and sample preparation, storage, and disposal equipment are integrated in the BIOLAB. Self-contained electrical power generation, heating and air conditioning systems, and plumbing fixtures including water and waste holding tanks are incorporated into the BIOLAB™. The BIOLAB™ is configured for direct "pass through" linkage to the Sabre MCAD™ and the Sabre PERDECON™ for high-threat environments.
